AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES COUNCIL OF NEW SOUTH WALES (A.S.C.) The Agricultural Societies Council of NSW has been operating since 1929 as the parent body of the 195 agricultural show societies throughout the State of New South Wales, primarily to provide them with support and service. The Council's Committee is made up of delegates from across the State. Our major object is to promote and protect the pastoral, agricultural, horticultural and industrial resources of Australia through promotion and protection of the Pastoral, Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Societies in New South Wales. A very high priority is the education of young people through the livestock judging competitions held throughout the State and culminating at the State Finals in Sydney at Easter. The aim of the ASC is to promote the involvement of youth in shows by fostering the holding of competitions for young people and by encouraging the participation of young people in show societies and agricultural youth groups.
