AgShows NSW Photography Competition
Competition General Info
The competition has been developed to recognise and showcase outstanding photography from agricultural Shows across NSW and the ACT, while celebrating our regional communities, agriculture and the unique spirit that makes our Shows so special.
Competition Structure & Regulations
The AgShows NSW Photography Competition provides a pathway for amateur photographers to progress from their local agricultural Show to Group Finals and ultimately the AgShows NSW State Final.
The competition is designed to celebrate the people, agriculture and unique spirit of agricultural Shows while recognising outstanding photography from across New South Wales and the ACT.
Competition Pathway
Local Show → Group Final → AgShows NSW State Final
Each participating Show selects one Champion Photo to represent their Show at the Group Final. Group winners then progress to compete for the AgShows NSW Champion Photo title at the State Final.
Local Show Information
The AgShows NSW Photography Competition has been designed to fit seamlessly into the photography competitions already conducted by many agricultural Shows.
Shows are encouraged to include the following photography themes within their existing schedule:
- People of the Show
- Agriculture in Action
- Show Spirit
There is no requirement to create a separate photography competition. Shows may simply nominate an eligible photograph from their existing photography competition as their Champion Photo, provided it aligns with one or more of the recommended themes.
Shows wishing to adopt the suggested classes may do so and then select an overall Champion Photo from those entries. This is recommended but not mandatory.

The AgShows NSW Photography Competition is open to amateur photographers aged 18 years and over.
To be eligible:
- The photograph must be the original work of the exhibitor.
- The image must have been taken within the previous 12 months at the local Show.
