Junee Show

The first show of the Junee Pastoral, Agricultural and Industrial Association was held in 1888 in a paddock beside the railway line south of Junee station, where patrons leapt from passing trains to attend. With no buildings, tents served officials, but the show’s success led to rapid development. By 1889, a sheep shed, agricultural and industrial hall, secretary’s office, yards and jumps had been erected. The show has occupied three sites. It later moved to another railway-side ground near Old Junee in conjunction with the Junee Racing Club, remaining there until 1930. That site was sold in 1931 to clear debts, and the show lapsed. Revived in 1934, it has since been held at the present Junee showground and recreation reserve.
