Nimbin Show

The Nimbin Agricultural and Industrial Society, formed in 1919, is said to be the only show society in Australia to award a gold medal as a trophy. In the 1930s, it was presented to a chestnut horse, Aviator, for a high jump of 7 ft 6 in—later matched by one of his progeny. The first show was held in 1919 on leased land at Gungas Road, attracting 1,614 entries across horse, cattle and produce sections. A permanent 10-acre site was later purchased, where shows have been held ever since
