Software Options for Cashbook / Invoicing

Low cost.

This subscription is $99 per year (Sept 2026) and has the following functions:

• Bank Feeds for bookkeeping
• Invoicing
• GST/BAS tracking

It is quite basic and has limitations with access and functionality but for a small show this could be useful.

MYOB Solo

For shows not needing GST/BAS reporting or invoicing, this provides a basic platform to run data feeds and reporting.

The cost is $16.50 per month (Sept 2026) and the product allows easier basic bookkeeping.

Needs to be accessed through an accountant. 

The basic package is good for people not requiring payroll or all the usual functions but does provide invoicing.

The full cost is $37 per month (Sept 2026) but there are discounts available, which change all the time.

The square app is useful as it allows invoicing and payments – it is only useful if you are planning on collecting payments online through invoice.

There are no subscription fees for the invoicing, you only pay transaction fees when clients pay online.

The dashboard allows you to do the following:

• Create invoices
• Email or text invoices to clients
• Clients pay online
• View list of paid and unpaid invoices

With this solution, you would continue to track your expenses in a cashbook or spreadsheet.

This is another option for a subscription that only manages invoices. It offers invoicing, reports, payments, etc.  

Options:

• Starter plan is $13 a month and allows 30 invoices a year
• Professional plan is $20 a month and allows 100 invoices a year

This also allows you to set up online payments for clients but those incur processing fees.

With this subscription, there is an expense tracking function but due to its limitations you would likely track your expenses in a separate excel or cashbook.
